Rent vs Wages: A graph and an interactive tool (does it get much better than that?)


The problem is clear- the cost of housing has outpaced the cost of rent:

And here is a cool interactive tool that Radio Boston posted and we shared on facebook today: http://www.richblockspoorblocks.com/  The map shows income vs rent in every neighborhood across the country.

After looking at those visuals, our homelessness crisis  should not a be surprise.  Here are some solutions: housing subsidies (cough, cough MRVP), a living wage for all working families, aggressive low income housing development, and more intentional education and job development in areas with high concentrations of poverty.  Easy enough, no?
