In Honor of Veteran’s Day

This weekend we must all take pause to honor and thank those who have fought for our country, for liberty and freedom, and for the rights of others. We should also take a moment to reflect in the fact that often Veterans return home, only to discover that they cannot afford one or don’t have the supports and resources to maintain one.  With such a small percentage of our population sacrificing so much, providing a home seems like the least we should demand for the men and women who serve and their children.

The intention of this post is not to be a political soapbox, but to remind providers that there are resources and supports available to those that have served in the military.  Please remember to ask and support families in finding the right resources, supports and opportunities.  Here are a few resources that may help:

Massachusetts Veteran’s Services

Massachusetts Women’s Veterans

US Dept of Veteran’s Affairs

National Coalition for Homeless Veterans

VA-Vantage Point Blog

National Resource Directory

Please feel free to post other resources, comments of helpful information.

Elmer Davis once said, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”

We say, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as we assure homes for the brave”
