REMINDER: Boston Hearing on Family Shelter Regulations

(This is a repost, thanks Elizabeth T for the reminder template!)

REMINDER:  Hearing on Family Shelter regulations

Thursday, October 25, 2012 – 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

State House – Gardner Auditorium

Boston, MA 02133

Due to the new emergency shelter regulations, children are being denied shelter when they have no safe place to sleep at night.  Children and their families are sleeping in cars, showing up at hospital emergency rooms and sleeping in places unfit for human habitation, after being denied access to shelter.  This is unacceptable.  Massachusetts can and must do better.

YOU can help!  Come to the hearing in Boston tomorrow to testify in opposition to these regulations, or be present to support the families, advocates and providers who plan to testify.

Planning to testify?  If you wish to testify, please plan to arrive no later than 9:45 AM to sign-up.

Getting to the hearing:  Gardner Auditorium is in the basement of the Senate wing.  The quickest way to get there is through the main entrance to the State House on Beacon Street (the Hooker Entrance).  Once you go through security, turn right, walk down the hallway to the bank of elevators on the left and take the elevator to “GA” or Gardner Auditorium.

Accessible Entrance to State House:  The only public, accessible entrance to the State House is the basement entrance on Bowdoin Street.  Once you go through security, go directly to the bank of elevators beyond and on your right.  Take the elevator to the second floor, walk straight toward Beacon Street and turn left down the Senate wing to the bank of elevators on the left.  Take the elevator to “GA” or Gardner Auditorium.
