DHCD Releases Memo on Short-term Subsidies

The memo, which is dated March 18th, describes that DHCD’s flexible funds program was terminated on March 2nd due to lack of adequate funding, but also says that denying any transitional rental resource (HPRP or ICHH) will be considered a failure to accept  feasible alternative housing. However, the memo says that families will not lose their homeless status “on state aided or federal housing waiting lists if they are re-housed with a transitional rental resource.” To view the memo click here.

Let is know what you think. Do you feel the message in the memo is reasonable? Do you feel there are better ways to utilize these shallow housing subsidies?
